Complete instructions to making silk ribbon flowersI have found this book to be a wonderful source of inspiration - there are dozens of flower varieties to make, each with step by step instructions and templates.
I notice the book is out of print - I have also found the tools and supplies required for this dying art are equally elusive!

Many Thousand Gone
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Average review score:

Many Thousand GoneAn excellent collection of stories of early African Americans, Many Thousand Gone begins with the first slaves arriving in the United States in 1619 and goes through the close of the Civil War and the end of slavery. Each chapter relates an easy to read account of people who represent the events surrounding slavery, particularly during the 1800s. Accounts of escapes along the Underground Railroad are included as well as the stories of individuals who played a significant part of black history. These include Nat Turner, Harriet Tubman, Soujourner Truth, and many others. All in all, this book was a joy to read and very informative.

The most complete book on fractionsIt's easy to learn fractions after reading this book. It provides a step by step approach to ensure easy learning. I wish I had this text for my first math class ten years ago. This book stimulates the desire to learn math.
The axioms of arithmetic that underpin the the mathematical processes outlined in the solutions are precise. Therefore it has a wonderful balance between mathematical rigor and pedadogy. This is perfect.

Mechanisms and Dynamics of Machinery
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (January, 1987)
Average review score:

My former professor Dr. Reinholtz...is an excellent professor and researcher, and his book on Kinematics reflects this as it is clear and usable. Of all the engineering books I had to buy in college, this was one of the easiest to understand - excellent diagrams. You will be happy with this book, although, I highly recommend taking Dr. Reinholtz's Kinematics class in addtion to reading this book.

A Midsummer Night's Dream: A Workbook for Students (Young Actors Series)
Published in Paperback by Smith & Kraus (August, 1996)
Average review score:

Fantastic for the classroom!I highly recommend this book to any teacher who wants to introduce her students to performing Shakespeare. We used this abridged version with our fifth and sixth grade students (we added in the whole of Puck's final speech, however!). The book pairs Shakespeare's language with a vernacular version of the play; the original language and vernacular "translation" are placed on facing pages. With the help of the vernacular version and a lot of coaching, our students were able to understand the play, memorize the lines, and perform the play in front of an audience. What was most exciting about the experience was that you could tell the kids *understood* the Shakespearian language from the way they spoke the lines -- they *said* them, rather than recited them. I credit this book's design and approach to the play with helping the kids to understand so much. We approached the idea of doing Shakespeare with this age group with some trepidation -- but with the help of this book, it was the highlight of our school year. (The book also has helpful sections which introduce the kids to the basics of the theater).

Miss Seeton at the Helm (G K Hall Large Print Book Series (Paper))
Published in Paperback by G K Hall & Co (August, 1998)
Average review score:

Great ReadMs. Seeton adventures are the best reads that I have come across. I am a thirty something that loves these types of British sleuthing novels. I re-read these novels several times a year, I have them all. My favorite used bookstore in Los Angeles had the entire series out of out-of-print ones, so I stocked up on all of them at once. They were over with too quickly. .... Maybe I should have waited and only gotten one book a month!!
They are truly one of a kind. I love the time period and the many scrapes that she seems to fall into. They're truly hilarious, while the novels maintain the suspense. I love Britain and try to get to London and environs once every couple of years or so.
